CAPHA, est la ville qu'on appeloit Theodosia, assise en Precopie, qui est Taurica Chersonesus, laquelle est quasi Isolée, id est, Peninsula, comme la Morée, et a d'un costé le goulfe de Nigropila, dit Sinus Carcinites, et de l'autre costé la mer noire, dite Bicis palus: et plus avant Meotides paludes, qui aujourd'huy s'appellent Goulfe de la Tana, ou de Tanais. Mehemet second de ce nom a osté ladite ville Capha aux Genevois. Sita est supra Bosphori Cimmerij angustiam in ipso Euxino quem recentiores Mare maius vocant.
